Meta, the umbrella company for Facebook and Instagram, has declared that their Meta Verified subscription service is now accessible in India. This news comes approximately five weeks after the initiation of the waitlist in the country.
Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta Verified on his Instagram Channel: “Meta Verified is now live in India, the UK, and Canada, with a Brazil launch on the horizon.”
He further clarified that all verified accounts would continue to enjoy their status on Instagram and Facebook at no additional cost.
Cost of Meta Verified in India
Meta had previously disclosed in March that the cost of the Meta Verified subscription in India would be Rs 599 per month for those who subscribe via the web (Facebook only). Meanwhile, the subscription costs Rs 699 a month for Android and iOS users.
Subscription Process for Meta Verified
Meta has outlined specific prerequisites to be eligible for a Meta Verified subscription. They include:
Subscribers should have prior experience with Facebook or Instagram, evidenced by some posts. They must be at least 18 years old and must produce a government-issued ID bearing their name and picture that aligns with the details on their Facebook/ Instagram account.
Benefits of Meta Verified
Similar to the Twitter Blue subscription, Meta Verified provides several perks. Zuckerberg said Meta Verified “aims to enhance authenticity and security across our platforms.”
In addition to receiving the Meta Verified badge, the company will safeguard verified users against impersonation. Subscribers also benefit from real human customer support instead of bot responses.
Meta purports that paying the monthly subscription fee will increase the visibility of users’ content and broaden their outreach, implying that users’ content will be more frequently seen in feeds, search results, and comment sections.
Additionally, subscribers will gain exclusive access to stickers for Stories and Reels on Facebook and Instagram and 100 Stars per month on Facebook, when available, to support fellow creators.
