iOS Bug Preventing Some Apps From Opening With ‘This App Is No Longer Shared’ Message

187

An app bug is causing some iOS users to be unable to access their apps, with iPhone and iPad users affected receiving the message “This app is no longer shared with you” while attempting to open an app. There are several reports about this in MacRumours forums and on Twitter with one MacRumors user describing the issue as:

“Is anyone else experiencing widespread app crashes? I am suddenly being informed that “this app is no longer shared with you” from several iOS apps. When I follow the prompt to the app’s App Store page, the only option is to “open,” which then just puts me back into the same loop.

All those complaints suggest that people running iOS 13.4.1 and iOS 13.5 were affected by the issues. While it’s unclear what causes the problem, not everyone running these iOS versions has been changed. Any users were only affected while they were upgrading apps.

Apps dealing with this issue include YouTube, Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, LastPass, etc. MacRumors updated their iPhone WhatsApp running the iOS 13.5 and saw the error message.

It seems there’s no solution or fix for this right now, or whether it’s a cloud / server-side problem, or if it’s a bug built into iOS 13.5, which would require patching.

People affected by the problems have been able to fix issues by removing and reinstalling the app that displays the error. Offloading the app could also work instead of deleting it.
