- Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at Apple, suggested the launch of new Apple AirPods in 2021.
- Last year, Apple had successfully launched its AirPods 3rd gen and AirPods Pro.
Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has announced that Apple’s next-generation and much-awaited AirPods will not be released this year but in 2021. As per reports, Kuo said that the 3rd generation AirPods would hit production in early 2021 while the second-generation AirPods are scheduled to head into production in the fourth quarter of 2021 or probably in the first quarter of 2022. Alongside these announcements, the report also discarded claims of the new Apple AirPods releasing later this year, as was earlier being expected.
Kuo also said that the new AirPods would continue with the same design as that of earlier AirPods. Apple had earlier retained the original designs of their AirPods in their latest AirPods too. These second-generation AirPods and AirPods pro, which were launched in 2019, looked similar to the first-generation AirPods (launched in2016). But they had internal upgrades such as improved sound quality, the hey-Siri feature, active noise cancellation, and H1 audio chip.
What will be new in the 3rd gen AirPods then? These new AirPods will adopt the SIP or system-in-package design, which will give them a slimmer appearance and make them faster.
There are rumors that Apple is planning to launch another set of AirPods targeting the fitness community around the globe. These will be called AirPods X. Kuo told investors that the supply chain sources are confusing the designing process of the new AirPods with an upcoming beats product. He also reported higher demand for AirPods Pro than the second generation basic AirPods, despite the former’s higher price. Apple keeps on launching updates for its products, and the newer version of AirPods is highly anticipated amongst the public.
